The Wall

This topic in it's entirety has caused damage to the lives of many. It's this same topic that has caused our nation to go through the longest government shutdown in history. Deep within the imagination of political envisioning no one would've thought that we, the land of the free and the home of the brave would separate members of families all because of ignorance and prejudice. Calling yourself an American feels embarrassing at the moment.

Remembering the day when I first heard about this topic still feels like yesterday. For those that don't know at this point the topic that I'm referring to is no other than "The Wall."

It was on a bright fall afternoon. Coming in from a class I turn to CNN. Staring at the screen there he was; old, white, plump, wearing an amateur business suit, topped off with that damn cotton candy blonde hair. He was standing in the lobby of his well-known estate in Manhattan. He was discussing the issue of immigration and it's "cons." However, sometime along the line this man goes bunkers. "We need border control. Their brining in drugs. Their bringing in crime. Their bringing in gangs. Their bringing in rapists. We need to keep this country safe again."

You have to understand that this was during the early stages of the campaign season. Before getting his foot in the White House 45 needed a promise to sell to his base.

We are now in year three of the Trump Presidency and thanks to a resisting congress there is still no wall. As an Independent I'm very critical of the DNC, but those GOPers should be ashamed of themselves. All the lives that are being damaged on both sides is very devastating to watch. They hailed this man just so they can take back The Senate and to be in control. If there are people on both sides of the political playing field that agree with me than great.

Unfortunately, our government is still shutdown and the future is still in question. The only thing that we the people could do is keep on pushing and keep our fingers crossed.
