Stop Casting Stereotypes To Black Actors
Sometime ago I read an interview featuring actor Michael B. Jordan. While strolling through this interview I read the most profound thing to ever be said by an actor. Answering a question giving to him by a journalist Michael B. Jordan responded by stating "I will not ever play a role meant for a Black actor." His latest role at the time was the protagonist Guy Montag for the film Fahrenheit 451 which is based on the book of the same name. As some should know the character is suppose to be a white man.
As well as doing a great job in the film Michael B. Jordan was right.
Do you know what a Morgan Freeman, Samuel Jackson, and a Denzel Washington have in common? The one thing these three phenomenal actors have in common is that they all individually redefined what it meant to be a black male in Hollywood. In simpler terms they didn't accept roles that degraded the Black community. For this reason alone I respect these three for this very reason stated previously.
Currently speaking we are in the year 2019. This being so blacks in Hollywood should be demanding more. Besides your physical appearance (and the perception that comes with it) your a human non the less. You can play whatever role you put your mind to. I'm glad to see that this is actually happening. All I have to say to Hollywood is, please "Stop Casting Stereotypes To Black Actors."
